Vintage Ouazguita Moroccan Rug (11' 8" x 4’ 6”)

  • $1,850.00

This magnificent large vintage Ouazguita rug originates from the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, where Berber artisans are renowned for weaving bold, symbolic textiles infused with vibrant natural dyes. It displays a luminous saffron-yellow field, achieved through the use of rare and precious saffron dye, contrasted with crimson, emerald, and rose medallions that bring a radiant energy to the composition. A central diamond motif anchors the design, surrounded by rows of repeating lozenges and tribal patterns that speak to themes of fertility, protection, and continuity.

Hand-knotted from 100% hand-spun wool, the pile is soft and supple underfoot, testifying to the exceptional quality of both material and craftsmanship. This piece is in superb vintage condition, retaining its saturated palette and rich texture, with a graceful patina that reflects decades of careful use.

The combination of geometric intricacy, rare saffron hues, and generous scale make this rug a true collector-worthy textile, perfectly suited as a dramatic focal point in a living space or a statement piece in a gallery-like interior.
